Pretoria, 12 January 2026. This morning, the Cuban diplomatic mission in South Africa visited the embassy of the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and signed the book of condolences paying tribute to the Cuban and Venezuelan heroes who fell during the vile imperialist aggression on 3 January in Caracas.
There, 32 Cuban combatants gave their lives in defence of Venezuelan sovereignty and self-determination. Their deaths were not in vain; their example lives on today and reaffirms our position of Homeland or Death in defence of our independence.
Cuban Ambassador Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, addressing those present, condemned the vile attack against Venezuela, which is a threat to all of Latin America, and reiterated that this is the time to maintain the unity of our peoples.
