Roseau, October 4, 2020. Today the Brigade of the Henry Reeve Health Contingent that participated in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Dominica returned to the homeland. The day before, the collaborators were fired at an official ceremony of the Dominican government in which Foreign Minister Dr. Kenneth Darroux and the Minister of Health Dr. Irving Mcintyre were present, as well as the Cuban Ambassador Ulises Arranz Fernández and other Cuban officials.
At the Charles Douglas International Airport they were fired by the Ambassador of Cuba, the Consul Miriam Martín Posada and the Head of the Permanent Brigade of Collaborators, Dr. Isolina López. On the Dominican side, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Investment in Health, and Dr. David Johnson, Head of Medical Assistance of the Ministry were present.
The Henry Reeve Brigade remained in Dominica for 6 months and, together with health professionals from this country, treated the 31 cases of COVID - 19 without a death, as well as the hundreds of suspected cases that were treated in the centers of isolation.
After their return, Cuban medical collaboration and participation in the fight against COVID 19 continues on this Caribbean island, through the Permanent Brigade of Cuban Health Collaborators, who already attend the 7 cases that are still active and the suspects found in isolation centers.
