Dominica, Roseau, 7 October 2016. Cuba's ambassador in the Commonwealth of Dominica, Juan Carlos Frómeta, highlighted the validity of the US blockade against Cuba despite the restoration of diplomatic relations last year. In statements given to the local radio station DBS, the Cuban diplomatic stressed that there can be no normalization of bilateral relations as economic, commercial and financial blockade is lifted, not the territory now occupied by the illegal naval base in Guantanamo be returned without ceasing subversive programs and radio broadcasts against Cuba.
The Cuban Ambassador said that while the US blockade continues, Cuba will continue to submit to the United Nations resolution against this genocidal act, as it has done for more than 20 years and has the support of almost all member countries of the ONU. In this regard, he stressed that next October 26 vote on the resolution will take place at the UN General Assembly. Finally, Ambassador Frómeta thanked the traditional support provided by the Dominican government and people of Cuba in the battle for the final elimination of the blockade. In this connection, he highlighted the statements of dominica Chancellor Francine Baron during the high-level segment of the General Assembly, where she urged the United States to end this discriminatory policy.
