Nicosia, 19 January 2023. -In the morning of January 19, 2023 His Eminence Metropolitan Isaias of Tamasos and Orinis received in the premises of his Holy Bishopric, the Ambassador of Cuba in Cyprus, Angel Gustavo Suárez Cordero.
During the fraternal meeting they exchanged on the national and international agenda as well as on the situation in Cuba. The Cuban diplomat explained the effects of the financial and economic blockade on his country and other general issues.
Both sides recalled the meeting between Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill and Pope Francis in Cuba as an expression of the recognition of religious freedom on the Caribbean island.
The Cuban ambassador presented Bishop Isaias with a silkscreen print by Cuban painter Yosvany Martinez showing the integration of the Orthodox Church in Old Havana.
