The Homeland is Sacred: Cubans living in St. Kitts and Nevis denounce U.S. threats of military intervention against Cuba.

The Association of Cubans Residents in St. Kitts and Nevis expressed concern over recent statements by the U.S. President, which represent an unprecedented escalation in threats of direct military intervention against Cuba, according to a statement issued on May 5.

The Association also denounces that the executive orders of January 29 and May 1, 2026, have intensified the economic war against the Caribbean nation, waged for more than 60 years, and that, as a result of these measures, there has been a deterioration in the population’s quality of life, with repercussions on basic services and medical care.

The statement also calls on the UN, world leaders, and Caribbean governments to help prevent military aggression against Cuba and a confrontation that could cause countless losses of life and material damage.

The statement reads as follows

The Association of Cubans Residents in St. Kitts and Nevis expresses its concern regarding the recent statements made by the President of the United States. These statements represent an unprecedented escalation in threats of direct military intervention in Cuba aimed at taking immediate control of the island.

The year 2026 has been difficult for Cubans. They have faced an increase in economic measures that are strangling the national economy.

The actions taken against Cuba for more than 60 years, together with the executive orders of January 29 and May 1, 2026, have intensified the economic war against the Caribbean nation. This has caused a significant deterioration in the population’s quality of life and in the basic services they receive.

Energy crisis: Many communities continue to experience power outages lasting 20 hours or more. This hinders daily activities, food preparation, food preservation, and access to drinking water.

Impact on healthcare services: Despite having medical care capacity and services, around 100,000 Cubans are waiting for surgical operations. Among them are more than 11,000 children, as there is insufficient electrical power for operating rooms to function.

The care of 16,000 patients undergoing radiotherapy and another 2,888 who depend on hemodialysis treatments is also being affected due to problems with the electricity supply.

Cuba is a sovereign nation that does not represent a threat to the security of any country; on the contrary, it has been an example of solidarity with other peoples.

The threat of deploying naval forces, such as the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, near Cuban coasts violates International Law, the United Nations Charter, and the declaration of Latin America and the Caribbean as a “Zone of Peace.”

The Association of Cubans Residing in St. Kitts and Nevis calls for the support of the United Nations, world leaders, and Caribbean governments to prevent aggression against Cuba and a confrontation that could result in countless losses of life and material damage.

The Association also calls for dialogue between the parties to be prioritized and hopes that an agreement will be reached that avoids confrontation and respects Cuba’s sovereign rights.
