I INTERNATIONAL HISTORICAL HERITAGE TOURISM EVENT "LOYAL TO HERITAGE", November 11-16, 2025

The San Cristóbal Travel Agency invites you to the I International Historical Heritage Tourism Event of Cuba "Loyal to Heritage" in November 2025 to celebrate the 506th anniversary of the founding of Havana. There will be tours of the cities of Havana, Matanzas, and Trinidad, and lectures on tangible and intangible heritage and the Slave Route, among others.

Among other topics, the heritage value of World Heritage cities will be showcased, and the need to preserve the history and culture of peoples, as well as conserve their monuments for future generations, will be discussed.

In addition to paradisiacal beaches and keys. Cuba is a multi-destination in itself. The island ranks 4th in Latin America and 26th out of 190 countries on the UNESCO World Heritage List for the number of heritage sites, with 11 sites, thanks to the degree of conservation of the sites. Among the World Heritage sites are Old Havana and its fortifications, the historic centers of Cienfuegos and Camagüey, the town of Trinidad and the Valley of the Sugar Mills, and the Castle of San Pedro de la Roca del Morro in Santiago.

Havana, founded in 1519 and selected as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2016, boasts one of the most extensive historical architectural complexes in the Americas. It is home to the largest fortress in the Americas, the San Carlos de la Cabaña fortress (1774), and the oldest standing fortress in the Americas, the Castle of the Real Force (1577). It also has the oldest active theater in the region, the Great Theater of Havana, Alicia Alonso (1838). It also has the second most important museum in the world about Napoleon, after France, and perhaps the best about the American novelist Ernest Hemingway.

The ancient town of Trinidad (454 km from Havana, founded in 1514) is one of the architectural jewels of the Americas and is considered Cuba's Museum City. It was awarded the title of Creative City of Crafts and Popular Arts by UNESCO in 2019, and the Craft City of the World in 2018. Trinidad has it all: a charming historic center, mountains, forests, and waterfalls in the nearby Topes de Collantes National Park, and beaches like Playa Ancón, where diving and fishing are possible, just kilometers away.

The city of Matanzas, 90 km east of Havana, has been called the "Athens of Cuba" for its Afro-Cuban folklore and profusion of poets and artists, and the "City of Bridges" for the numerous bridges cross it. Its geography, history, culture, and architecture make it as interesting as other Cuban cities, as its infrastructure was inspired by Havana, making it very notable. Matanzas is home to museums such as the Pharmaceutical Museum, the only one in the Americas, and the Slave Route Museum, the first of its kind, located in San Severino Castle (1734), the most important fortification in western Cuba, with the exception of Havana.
