II International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Left Parties and Movements in Havana, Cuba, from February 12 to 14, 2024

The Cuba Socialista Magazine, theoretical and political organ of the Communist Party of Cuba, co-sponsored by the University of the Party Ñico López, the Casa d las Américas (House of the Americas), the Cuban chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity and the Cuban newspapers Granma and Juventud Rebelde, convene the Second International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Left Parties and Movements that will meet for three days from February 12 to 14, 2024, in Havana, Cuba, prior to the XXXII Havana International Book Fair that will take place later , from February 15 to 24.

The First International Meeting that met in Havana in person for three days, from February 10 to 12 of this year 2023, had the participation of about 100 personalities from 34 countries from different regions and about 40 Cuban thinkers and academics.

It was also attended by the President of Cuba and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC), Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Secretary of Organization; Rogelio Polanco, head of the Ideological Department of the Central Committee; Emilio Lozada, head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee, Alpidio Alonso, Minister of Culture and Abel Prieto, President of Casa de las Américas.

The event is of great importance for the popular, left-wing and progressive Parties, movements and forces in the face of the worsening of international problems and challenges and the systemic crisis that affects all our countries, the rise of fascism in various parts of the world, the progressive death of the old world and the delay in the emergence of a new world order.

In the previous Meeting, the participants expressed themselves on numerous topics, among others, the new global geopolitical configuration and the right-wing offensive, the systemic and multidimensional crisis on a global scale, the danger of a global nuclear conflagration, cultural colonization, the challenges of the progressive forces in today's world and the validity of Fidel Castro's legacy.

The topics for the debate of this Second Meeting are:

 

I. - PLENNARY SESSION (February 12)

 

Unity within the Left:

How to overcome the pitfalls of doctrine without abandoning theory?

 

How can we articulate ourselves without losing our identity or getting lost in our differences?

 

II. ACTION PLAN WORKSHOPS (February 13)

 

  1. Workshop 1: Research programs on the challenges of the left in light of imperialism's media war and training courses related to these issues;
  2. Workshop 2: Collective editorial actions in defense of the historical memory: rescuing and disseminating the work of the heroes and martyrs for the independence and social justice of the peoples of the South;

 

III. - PLENNARY SESSION (February 14)

 

Being young and left-wing in times of neo-fascism and wars of ideas: strategies for victory.
