South Africa, January 24, 2022.- Today, at the headquarters of the Embassy of Cuba in South Africa, the act of constitution and inauguration of the Electoral Commission of Constituency number 119 took place, which will coordinate the process of consultation and referendum of the new Family Code of Cuba among Cuban personnel for official reasons in South Africa, Eswatini and Lesotho.
The following officials were appointed as members of the Commission: Mireya Pupo Ochoa (President), Maritza Camejo Castillo (Secretary), Dianelis Forestal Mejías (Member), Gloria Esther Almandoz Suarez (Member) and Pedro Pérez Leyva (Member).
The implementation of this broad process of popular consultation is a sign of the will of the Cuban State to defend the broadest democratic participation of its nationals in the country's legislative processes, especially in the case of this new family code that protects all expressions of family diversity.
