Brisbane, 16 April 2025. Today an interesting exchange took place at Griffith University on Family Law in Cuba and Australia.
The exchange took place at the Faculty of Law of the prestigious Australian academic institution and was attended by Professors Yamila González Ferrer and Zoe Rathus.
During the meeting, which was offered in hybrid mode (online and face-to-face), the experts highlighted the main milestones of family law in both nations as well as the similarities and differences of the main institutions in the family sphere.
Issues such as gender equality, the rights of persons with disabilities, issues related to marriage and adoption as well as children's rights and compliance with the different international conventions were the subject of questions and a lively exchange, where those present were able to learn in depth about the main legislative changes in both countries with regard to these issues.
The Cuban Ambassador to Australia thanked Griffith University, in particular the Model Project on Violence, and the Faculty of Law for their help in organising the event, and reaffirmed the willingness to continue holding this type of event to advance academic relations between the two countries.
