We have carefully followed the most recent events that occurred in the European Parliament and we note with indignation that the same small group of MEPs who respond to Washington's agenda has succeeded in imposing a new debate on Cuba on September 16, dragging behind them the political groups of which they are members, which once again makes that legislative entity a sad hostage to an aggressive escalation alien to genuinely European interests and contrary to the spirit of respectful dialogue that has prevailed in relations between Cuba and the European Union.
The recidivism of this group of legislators, whose performance on these issues is characterized by double standards and the intensive use of lies to single out a sovereign State, should be a matter of concern for citizens and the institutions of the European Union themselves, departing from the ethical behavior that should prevail in the conduct of the deputies to the European Parliament, as prescribed in Article 10 of its Internal Regulations.
The promoters of this new maneuver do not have the moral authority to claim to be defenders of the rights of the Cuban people. Those who do not have sufficient decorum to act independently and obey the dictates of the power that deploys a brutal economic, commercial, financial, political and communication war against our country cannot be, which has become more severe at a time when we are facing the pandemic. constitutes the most flagrant and systematic violation of the human rights of all Cubans, something that these people, showing off their proverbial political hypocrisy, have not even bothered to condemn.
It must be remembered that they do not represent the opinion of all the members of the European Parliament. In that forum there is and works a Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba, whose voice is heard with increasing force in the face of the calumnies that these gentlemen are trying to impose. Nor are they spokespersons for the feelings of the European peoples, within which a vigorous movement of solidarity grows day by day with enormous symbolic and moral value that encourages and accompanies the efforts of our people.
The International Relations Commission of the National Assembly of People's Power warns once again about the danger posed by politicized exercises like this one, which respond more to the personal agendas of their promoters than to a genuine concern for the protection of human rights. in Cuba and in the world. Consequently, he calls on all members of the European Parliament not to support this new move.
