Tehran, February 16, 2026.- Esmaiel Baghaei, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, strongly condemned the intensification of the economic blockade against Cuba and the continued pressure imposed on the country by the United States, expressing solidarity with the Cuban government and people.
In a statement issued on Monday, Baqaei strongly deplored the intensification of the economic siege of Cuba and the pressure exerted against the country, expressing solidarity with the people and government of Cuba.
Referring to over 64 years of economic siege of Cuba by US Administration, which has had widespread humanitarian consequences for the country and has resulted in a gross violation of the fundamental human rights of the Cuban people, he stated that undoubtedly, the economic sanctions against Cuba are a clear violation of the fundamental principles and rules of the United Nations Charter and international law, particularly the right of peoples to self-determination, the principle of respect for the national sovereignty of states, and the prohibition of intervention in the internal affairs of countries.
US must be held accountable for its continuous and systematic violation of these principles, as well as for the extensive denial of the human rights of the Cuban people, which constitutes a crime against humanity, he stressed.
