Ambassador Vladimir González Quesada had an interview with Dr. Ahmad Nategh Noori, president of the Iran Boxing Federation (IBF) interested in resuming the historic collaboration with Cuba in this sports discipline. The meeting was also attended by Ruhollah Husseini and Ali Daneshmanfar, vice president and secretary of the federation, respectively.
Ruhollah Husseini was an outstanding Persian boxer in the category of 91 Kg, who won medals in several international competitions and qualified for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. During his active sporting life he was trained by a Cuban coach, of which he is very proud.
Currently the IBF is negotiating a contract with Cubadeportes S.A., to recruit two of its best coaches in the discipline to prepare its national team with a view on the XVIII edition of the Asian Games, which will take place from August 18th to September 2nd, 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Ambassador and Dr. Nategh Noori agreed that it should make every effort to realize this contract of Cuban technicians and rescue the sports cooperation between Cuba and Iran, especially at this time when bilateral relations between the two countries are experiencing a remarkable boom.
