Kerry, October 1, 2020, A large group of Irish friends have set out on a hike to climb Carrauntoohil Mountain, the highest on the island. This pilgrimage is part of a program of Walks for Cuba and against the blockade, which will conclude with a 60-kilometer march to the center of Dublin, a one-kilometer march for each year of criminal sanctions aimed at economically asphyxiating the people of Cuba.
This is a commendable initiative of the solidarity organization "Cuba Support Group Ireland" that has been embraced by many other friends of Cuba from the most diverse sectors and regions of the country, including Cuban residents and their Cuban-Irish descendants.
Among the walkers is the 84-year-old painter Dietrich Blodau, a renowned artist and fraternal friend of Cuba.
The Cuban Embassy in Ireland is pleased to share some photos of this first hike up the Carrauntoohil mountain and expresses its deep gratitude to the Irish friends for this gesture of solidarity towards the Cuban people and their heroic resistance.
