END THE ECONOMIC BLOCKADE ON CUBA

"On behalf of Workers' Party Youth, I'd like to express our solidarity with the Cuban people, as they continue to stand defiant in the face of the economic blockade imposed on their small island nation by the United States of America.

The United States and its opposition to Cuba is an entirely ideological matter. Since American capitalists were kicked out of the island following the revolution, the USA has stopped at nothing in their attempts to destroy the will of the Cuban people. They seek to steal Cuban resources for private profit.

Despite this, the socialist system remains a model which the rest of the world could do with following.

Cuba boasts some of the world's highest-quality healthcare and education systems, giving Cubans one of the highest literacy rates in the world, as well as a life expectancy rate higher than the United States. This is all a result of the country's socialist system.

Not only have the Cuban people benefitted from their system, but so too has the rest of the world. Since the revolution, Cuban doctors have travelled the world on humanitarian missions. Most recently, these doctors have arrived in places like Italy to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

Workers' Party Youth reiterates our longstanding call for the economic embargo on Cuba to be lifted immediately, and once again express our full solidarity with the Cuban people.

Viva Cuba!"
