Irish solidarity expresses its support for Cuba against the blockade.

Dublin, October 18, 2023. A delegation made up of members of the Cuba Solidarity Forum of the Siptu, visited today the headquarters of the Cuban Diplomatic Mission in Dublin, where they were received by the Cuban ambassador, Bernardo Guanche Hernández. During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat recognized the traditional and outstanding role played by Irish solidarity in the defence of Cuba, in particular, in the campaigns for the liberation of the Five Heroes, in the fight against the blockade, in the rejection of the inclusion of Cuba on the List of Countries Sponsoring Terrorism, among others.

The participants exchanged about the current Cuban reality and especially about the upcoming presentation of the draft resolution against the blockade, which will be discussed and voted on between next November 2 and 3.

The delegation, led by Dr. Kieran Jack Mc Ginley, president of the SIPTU Cuba Solidarity Forum, will arrive in Havana on November 3 in order to express its solidarity and support for the Cuban people.

The Services, Industrial, Professional and Technical Union (SIPTU) represents over 180,000 workers from virtually every category of employment across almost every sector of the Irish economy.
