Dublin, July 26, 2022. Residents of this city witnessed the July 26 celebration today. In a massive act, representatives of the organizations that make up the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, of different Irish political parties, of trade union organizations of friends, Cuban residents and the group of the Caribbean Embassy, celebrated the occasion from the afternoon, first in the bridge “Ha'penny Bridge”, one of the most emblematic of the Irish capital and later, in the bookstore “Connolly Book Shop”.
In the centre of Dublin, in salute to such a great historical date, Cuban and Irish flags, the July 26 Movement, the Communist Party of Ireland, the Sinn Féin Party, its youth organization "Ográ Sinn Féin" and the Workers' Party. Likewise, images of Ché and banners against the blockade imposed by the United States more than 60 years ago.
Afterward, participants in the "Ha'penny Bridge" event attended the meeting held at the headquarters of the "Connolly Book Shop", where the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Ireland, Eugene McCartan, reiterated the Ireland's solidarity with Cuba, denounced the blockade and ratified the brotherhood between both peoples.
For his part, the Cuban ambassador, Bernardo Guanche Hernández, thanked the solidarity of the people of Ireland. Likewise, he referred to the historical circumstances that forced the youth of the Centenary Generation to attack the Moncada and Bayamo barracks, the fight against the Batista dictatorship and the revolutionary victory of January 1, 1959, led by the leader historical of the Revolution, Fidel Castro. Likewise, I reject the hostile policy of the United States against Cuba and its inclusion in the State Department's spurious list as a country that sponsors terrorism.
Then, the videos of three songs that are part of the soundtrack of the Revolution were projected: “In that came Fidel”, by the unforgettable Carlos Puebla, “The March of 26” and “Cuba, how beautiful is Cuba”, whose refrains in Spanish were sung by some of those present.
