The King of Eswatini arrived in Cuba on an official visit

Pretoria, 30 September, 2019.- King Mswati III, arrived on Sunday in Cuba to begin an official visit in which the exchange with senior Cuban leaders is planned to strengthen ties between nations. He was received at the José Martí International Airport by Deputy Foreign Minister Ana Teresita González Fraga.
Under the planned program, the Head of State will honor the National Hero José Martí, hold meetings with senior leaders of the State and Government, visit the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, tour the historic center of Havana and meet with young people from his nation They study in Cuba.
Cuba and the Kingdom of Eswatini established diplomatic relations on September 22, 1995. Since then, the links have focused on solidarity and cooperation, mainly in the area of ​​public health and academic training.
Medical cooperation began in 2005, at the direct request of King Mswati III to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. Currently working there a medical brigade composed of 20 employees. Until the 2017-2018 academic year, 21 students from this small African country had graduated in Cuba and another 13 young people remain studying different specialties.
Cuba appreciates the invariable solidarity of the Kingdom of Eswatini in the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States Government. On several occasions the Greater Antilles has ratified the invariable nature of its relations with Africa, particularly with the Kingdom of Eswatini, which is joined by historical ties of friendship.
