Pretoria, March 4, 2020.- The King of Lesotho, His Majesty Letsie III, concluded a productive official visit to Cuba.
Since his arrival in Cuban territory, he developed an intense agenda with the interest of continuing to strengthen ties of friendship, cooperation between the two countries.
As part of the program of activities, it was received by the Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, an appointment in which they reiterated the will to continue developing and expanding political dialogue and cooperation, especially in the areas of health, education and sport. The Cuban president thanked the support of the Kingdom of Lesotho in the battle for the lifting of the criminal and illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against the Island and ratified the willingness to continue strengthening the historic ties of friendship between the two nations. .
The monarch visited the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), and exchanged with the students of his country who are currently preparing at that educational center, where he expressed the wish that the largest of the Antilles continue helping the world to have doctors. Dr. Marcia Cobas, Cuban Vice Minister of Public Health, took advantage of the meeting to thank the attention received by Cuban doctors who are currently on mission in Lesotho.
Previously, the visitor paid tribute to the National Hero of Cuba José Martí, with the placement of a wreath at the monument located in the Plaza de la Revolución and took a tour of the Museum of the Revolution.
Since 1979, Cuba and Maseru have maintained diplomatic relations, and so far the main areas of collaboration are framed in the sectors of human resources training and health. Last year, both countries signed two new cooperation agreements in the field of health, which have been successfully implemented.
