Almost a hundred personalities from 36 countries will participate in the First International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Leftist Political Parties and Movements, to be held here from February 10 to 12.
According to the director of the Cuba Socialista Magazine, Enrique Ubieta, the debates on important current issues will also include the contributions of some 40 Cuban thinkers and academics.
The meeting will address issues such as the role of young people in the construction and defense of socialism, and the relevance of the unity of the international left in the face of current challenges and the offensive of the right wing and U.S. imperialism.
The participants will also debate on the systemic and multidimensional crisis of capitalism on a world scale and the validity of the legacy of the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
In an interview granted to the Cuban television program Buenos Días, Ubieta affirmed that the positive response to the convocation includes the intellectuals Atilio Borón (Argentina), the Spaniard Ignacio Ramonet, among other outstanding intellectuals, politicians, magazine directors and leaders of Left-wing parties in Latin America.
The conclave, planned to be held in October last year, was postponed due to the serious damages caused by hurricane Ian in western Cuba, but it kept its interest among those summoned, as evidenced by the large presence of participants, said Ubieta.
