The Commander of the Revolution, Juan Almeida Bosque, left his legacy in the development of relations between Cuba and Seychelles.
On the occasion of the commemoration of another anniversary of the birth of the unforgettable Commander of the Revolution, Juan Almeida Bosque (February 17, 1927 - September 11, 2009), we recall his historic official visit to the Republic of Seychelles in January 1983.
Commander Almeida, not only left a rich and extensive revolutionary legacy to his people; but also left his important imprints in the construction and development of bilateral relations between Cuba and Seychelles. He was received by President France Albert René (November 16, 1934 - February 27, 2019), historic leader and founding father of the Seychelles People's Progressive Front party, today called United Seychelles.
Albert René was also in Seychelles the founding father of the construction and development of political dialogue and cooperation with Cuba.
Cuba does not forget, has its memory and pays well-deserved tribute to its heroes and friends like France Albert René, who above all, firmly and courageously maintained his friendship with the Cuban Revolution and its historic leader, the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz. He was a loyal friend in Seychelles who defended and promoted cooperation and friendship between both nations for the benefit of their peoples.
We are grateful for the solidarity shown by all the friends in Seychelles who are the inheritors of Albert René's political legacy; as well as all those who, out of respect and above differences, keep alive the historical legacy of relations with Cuba and work to keep the Cuban flag waving in the sky of Seychelles.
