The Lenin Prize is awarded to Raúl Castro Ruz

Pretoria, May 2, 2019.-After the massive parade of workers in the Revolution Square "José Martí", in Havana, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and General Army Raúl Castro Ruz, received the Lenin Prize awarded by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, "for its exceptional contribution to the construction of socialism and its work to consolidate the principles of justice, humanism and social progress."
Upon receiving the award from Ivan Melnikov, first vice president of the State Duma and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Raúl said that he welcomed it "not on a personal basis, but on behalf of all our people, the communist militants and as recognition to the direction of our Party"
The President of the Councils of State and Ministers Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and other members of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba also participated in the ceremony, which took place at the José Martí Memorial.
The first vice president of the State Duma and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation recalled "the path of courage and resistance" toured by the Cuban people "amid permanent political and economic pressures on the side of the enemies of the Island of freedom " He also affirmed that the achievements of the Revolution and its people are inextricably linked with the name of Commander Fidel and, of course, of Raúl.
The Lenin Prize, created in 1925, is one of the most important distinctions that remain in force since the Soviet Union existed and is announced every year on the date of April 22, day of the birth of the leader of the Great October Socialist Revolution.
