Pretoria, 2 November 2026. — The Cuban Embassy welcomes with deep gratitude the statements made by Lesotho’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Relations, His Excellency Limpho Tau, published by the Lesotho Times, in which he reaffirms his country’s solidarity with Cuba in the face of US aggression.
“It is at times like these that true friends are needed and support one another. Lesotho stands with Cuba for a just cause,” declared Minister Tau.
The head of Lesotho’s diplomatic service emphasised that history will vindicate Lesotho, recalling that Cuba has stood by the people of that country for years. He highlighted that numerous Lesotho citizens have studied in Cuba and that Cuban doctors have provided essential healthcare services in Lesotho. The minister also acknowledged Cuba’s contribution to the region and to Africa in their struggle against colonial oppression.
Relations between Cuba and Lesotho were established in 1979 and have developed on the basis of mutual respect, solidarity and cooperation. Cuban cooperation has focused in particular on the health and education sectors. Cuba has offered scholarships to students from Lesotho in fields such as medicine and physical education, has provided lecturers to the National University of Lesotho, and has sent medical brigades to strengthen the country’s health services.
The Cuban Embassy reaffirms its commitment to continuing to deepen the historic bonds of brotherhood, cooperation and mutual respect between Cuba and Lesotho, for the benefit of both peoples and the cause of a fairer and more equitable international order.
