02 March 2023. - The Cuban Ambassador, Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero paid last March 1st a formal visit to the Municipality of Paphos, where he was received by the Mayor of the city, Mr. Phedon Phedonos.
The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere, where the Cuban diplomat updated the Mayor on the situation in Cuba, the effects of the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States more than six decades ago, as well as the unjust inclusion of the Caribbean island in the spurious list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
For his part, the Mayor gave an update on local development projects, where he highlighted the social and cultural works for the coming period, as well as the confirmation of Paphos as a Smart and Digital City.
Both agreed to develop the cooperation between the Municipality of Paphos and the Cuban Embassy and exchanged on the possibility of the presentation of an artistic group of the friendly country in a concert that will take place in Paphos in September 2023 (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
