Meeting of Cuban Cooperators in South Africa with the Vice President of Cuba, Inés María Chapman

Pretoria, January 26, 2019.- As part of the visit to South Africa by Inés María Chapman, vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba; on the night of yesterday, an exchange was held with Cuban collaborators who are carrying out a state mission in South Africa in the sectors of Health, Water Resources, Education, Construction and Defense.

The rest of the members of the delegation that accompanies the Vice President; Rodolfo Benítez Verson, Ambassador of Cuba in South Africa and officials of the Cuban Embassy participated in the meeting.

In the beginning of the activity, the heads of each of the Cuban cooperation brigades offered a brief update of the characteristics and perspectives of the work in each of their branch. They also had the opportunity, as well as the rest of the participants, to ask to the Vice President about current Cuban and international issues. The Vice President, after exchanging about the questions, congratulated the cooperators for the work of excellence undertaken and said that "she had received expressions of gratitude towards the government of Cuba from South African government authorities due to the work executed by Cuban workers"

In the second part of the meeting, an emotional activity of farewell took place to the collaborators of the sector of Water Resources, which successfully concluded their Mission in South Africa and returned to Cuba in a few hours. The words of farewell were issued by the Vice President of Cuba and the South African side, the head of the South African Defense Force, General Solly Shoke.

It was reiterated at this time the South African government's recognition of the work carried out by the Cuban cooperators and the thanks to the people and government of Cuba for always accompanying and supporting South Africa in the moments and areas in which they have needed it.
