Ottawa, September 18, 2018: On the afternoon of this Tuesday, the exchange took place between the deputy, Gladys Mercedes López Bejerano, president of the Cuba-Canada Parliamentary Friendship Group, and the members of the Ottawa-Cuba Connections solidarity group . During the exchange, the deputy explained the composition of the National Assembly of People's Power after the election of the IX Legislature, referred to the current process of discussion of the draft Constitution in Cuba, addressed interparliamentary relations and expanded on the effects of the imposed Blockade for the United States against Cuba and the effects it causes the Cuban people. In this regard, he took the opportunity to reiterate the gratitude to the friends of solidarity with Cuba in Ottawa for their traditional support.
For their part, the members of the solidarity group were interested in the process of constitutional reform and Cuba-Canada relations, and thanked the deputy for the meeting.
The special moment of the night was when Bill Ryan, a friend of Cuba and one of the main proponents of the cause of the 5 Heroes in Canada, shared some anecdotes about his relationship with Gerardo Hernández Nordelo and presented Gladys López Bejerano with one of his popular CubaCan bats.
