London, July 24, 2025 - In a meeting held at the Cuban Embassy in London, the First Secretary for Economic and Commercial Affairs, Soima Méndez, together with the Head of Sports Affairs, Adislenes Ruenes, and the Counsellor for Tourism, Maite Suárez, held a meeting with Mr. Illya Pike, director of the British agency Goliath Advisory, dedicated to investments in the sports and tourism sectors.
The purpose of the meeting was to explore potential links and possibilities for cooperation between Cuban sports institutions and UK football clubs, as well as to establish alliances to strengthen exchanges in the field of tourism and sports. During the dialogue, joint initiatives to promote Cuban sport in the UK were analysed.
Illya Pike highlighted the international recognition of Cuban sport and the significant achievements obtained by our athletes in international competitions. She was also particularly interested in exploring possibilities in the football sector.
For their part, the Cuban officials gave a general overview of sport in Cuba, its structures and institutions, highlighting INDER and its company Cubadeportes, as manifestations of access to sport as a fundamental right of our people.
