Members of the Cuban Embassy and ACFS-Canberra Branch visit Cooma as part of the campaign "From Australia to Cuba with Love"

Canberra, 30 June 2024. Members of the Canberra branch of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS), and Embassy representatives, led by the Third Secretary Ivianes Gonzalez, visited the town of Cooma as part of the "From Australia to Cuba with Love" campaign.

They visited the Cooma Café, where Ercan, also a member of ACFS, provided them with lunch and hot drinks to face the 6 degree weather.

Participants were at the Cooma Visitor Center; and walked to the Avenue of Flags which commemorates the refugees who moved to the Cooma region after World War II to work on the Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme.

They also walked down Lambie St, the old main street with buildings dating back to 1854; visited the Raglan Gallery and Cultural Center; and hiked up Billygoat Hill.

It was a great experience.

The activity concluded by denouncing the U.S. blockade against Cuba and calling for Cuba's removal from the immoral List of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
