Members of the Cuban Embassy participate in the inauguration of the new president of Seychelles

Victoria, October 27._ Cuban Ambassador Martha Hernández Caneiro and Minister Counselor Tomás Méndez Parra attended the inauguration of the new President of Seychelles, Dr. Patrick Herminie.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Sunday, November 26, before thousands of people gathered at Stad Linite, the country's main stadium. This was the first time in the history of Seychelles that this ceremony was held outside the State House with popular participation.

In his inauguration speech, President Herminie conveyed a message of unity, dignity, and social justice, and outlined his approach to governance based on equality, citizen participation, collective responsibility, and government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

He also pledged to preserve the nation's independence and strengthen international relations based on mutual respect.

The ceremony began with the arrival of invited delegations from India, Mauritius, Comoros, Tanzania, China, the European Union, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Victoria, the outgoing president and vice president, as well as other special guests for the occasion.

At the end of the swearing-in ceremony, members of the Cuban diplomatic representation conveyed to President Herminie the greetings and congratulations of the people and government of Cuba.

Dr. Patrick Herminie, who is also the president of the United Seychelles party, won the presidency in the second round of elections held on October 9, 10, and 11, with 52.7 percent of the vote.
