Members of the solidarity movement in Australia expressed their strong rejection of the US blockade against Cuba in response to the latest escalation of the US economic siege

Canberra, 26 February, 2026. In a gesture of firm support for the Cuban people and in clear rejection of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade that the United States has imposed on Cuba for more than six decades, a simple but emotional act of solidarity was held today at the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Australia.

During the event, representatives of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS) in Canberra reiterated that the unilateral blockade, which has intensified in recent years, is the main obstacle to the island's economic and social development and represents a flagrant violation of human rights. Despite the enormous difficulties imposed, the Cuban people continue to demonstrate their resilience and unwavering commitment to social justice, international cooperation, and solidarity.

From different Australian cities, ACFS members carry out actions in support of Cuba and in denunciation of the blockade (public demonstrations, signature collection, social media posts, fundraising and supplies, etc.).

The Cuban Embassy in Canberra expresses its deep gratitude to Cuba's friends in Australia, solidarity organizations, social movements, Cuban residents, and all people of goodwill who join this just cause.
