Dear compatriots and friends:
We are deeply grateful for the countless expressions of solidarity received towards the Cuban people and government, in the face of the damage caused by the devastating Hurricane Irma that hit our national territory for more than 72 hours, with wind gusts that sometimes exceeded 250 kilometres per hour.
At the moment the heavy damages caused by this meteorological phenomenon are being assessed, while our authorities, civil society organizations and people at large face the stage of recovery.
As comrade Raúl Castro said in his call to our combative people in the wake of the hurricane, "we will face the recovery following the example of the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, who with his permanent faith in victory and strong will taught us that nothing is impossible. At this difficult time, his legacy makes us strong and unites us. "
In the face of this new challenge, we unite and reaffirm our faith and confidence in victory.
Once again Cuba will be victorious.
