Orestes Hernandez, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of Cuba in Belize: “I have to say that yes that there was some events and in some locations in Cuba on July 11th there was some hundreds of people in different locations in Cuba that went to the streets demonstrating some concerns about the situation that we are facing but this is not just a news like this one. You need to put everything in context especially in the case of Cuba to understand what is happening. It has been always in the US elite mindset the purpose to create a situation in Cuba that can overthrow the government because I have to go again to the history, because since the nineteenth century the US elite has been following the moment to try to annex Cuba as a new colony. Sometimes if I say that so people think that I am dreaming but I am not dreaming. I am just putting their own words which have been their real purpose in the case of policy to Cuba and what happened was in part a result of that. So those events that happened in Cuba were result of a recognized designed plan by the US government to opportunistically create and to put the greatest pressure against Cuba at a time when we are facing as the rest of the world a complicated situation derived from a sixteen months of pandemic which has been very hard for a Cuban because Cuba might be the only country that at the same time we are facing two virus and two pandemics. The first one is the coronavirus pandemic and the second one is the US blockade. I can tell you, I assure you that Cuba is now in a complete normality. Of course there is a tense situation in Cuba because we are still receiving that kind of atmosphere, that kind of frenetic atmosphere from Florida.”
