Belmopan, november 9, 2021.- Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, Hon. Francis Fonseca along with our Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Dian Maheia, warmly welcomed the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Belize, Her Excellency Mrs María Caridad Balaguer Labrada, for a courtesy call at our Ministry's Headquarters in the City of Belmopan.
During the visit, Minister Fonseca took the opportunity to thank the Ambassador for her country's unwavering commitment to Belize's national development especially in the areas of education, health and culture. Cuba has remained a strong friend of Belize despite the ongoing trials of the pandemic and the illegal and unilateral embargo imposed upon their nation. The Ambassador in turn highlighted Belize's steadfast support for Cuba and reaffirmed our common will to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation.
This year, Belize and Cuba celebrated 26 years of bilateral relations, solidarity and cooperation. Over the course of those years, 200+ Belizean students have had the opportunity to study in Cuba. We look forward to continuing the collaboration with our sister Caribbean nation and engaging in projects in areas such as education, culture, science and technology.(EmbaCuba Bellice)
