Pretoria, 28 September, 2019.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla delivered a speech today at the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, # UNGA2019. The Cuban Minister addressed current issues related to the maintenance of international peace and security, currently affected by the application of unilateral coercive measures and imperial interference.
He condemned the US blockade policy against Cuba and said that it continues to be the main obstacle for Cuban development and for the progress of the process of updating the socialist model of economic and social development in Cuba.
He denounced also the increase of hostility measures of the US Government against Cuba in the last year, through the implementation of additional obstacles to Cuba's foreign trade and the the persecution of its international banking-financial relations, to which are added the unconventional measures applied to eliminate the supply of fuel to Cuba from various markets.
The Cuban Minister also rejected the actions of political subversion against Cuba, the obstruction of the travels and any interaction between Cubans living in the US and their homeland, and the attacks on medical cooperation that Cuba has with dozens of developing countries; all those attackts based on the most recent pretext of blaming Cuba for the failure of the US plan to forcefully overthrow the legitimate government of Venezuela which Cuba backs without hesitation.
The Minister once again affirmed that "the economic aggression, no matter how harsh, the threats and blackmails, will not tear us out of a single concession. Who knows the history of the Cubans in the long struggle to achieve emancipation and in the firm defense of freedom and justice conquered " and reiterated that" even under the current circumstances, we do not renounce the will to develop a civilized relationship with the US, based on mutual respect and recognition of our profound differences."
