MINISTER OF HEALTH OF CYPRUS RECEIVES THE CUBAN AMBASSADOR
Cyprus, June 7, 2017. - Health Minister George Pamborides received Ambassador Aramis Fuente Hernández at the headquarters of that institution in Nicosia.
In a cordial and friendly atmosphere, both officials exchanged informations on various aspects of their respective countries' interest and assessed the current state of bilateral relations in the important area of health, confirming the readiness to continue working to expand and strengthen them in the framework of the traditional and fruitful ties existing between the peoples of Cuba and Cyprus.
The ambassador informed Minister Pamborides about the implementation in Cuba in April of next year of the International Convention on Public Health "CUBA-HEALTH 2018" and gave him the invitation sent by his Cuban counterpart, Minister Dr. Roberto Morales Ojeda. The Cypriot Minister evaluated as very important the content and the subjects that will be the subject of discussion in that event that will be realized under the central motto "Universal Health for a sustainable development".
Furthermore, the Cuban diplomat gave to the Minister the open call for the UNESCO Carlos J. Finlay Prize for 2017, which invites governments of all countries to present candidates for the prize. The Carlos J. Finlay Prize for Microbiology is promoted by Cuba and is awarded to individuals, institutions, entities or non-governmental organizations that have made relevant contributions in the field of Microbiology through scientific research. The Minister welcomed the call with great interest.
