Minister of Health of Dominica thanks Cuba´s aid in the battle against COVID 19.

Roseau June 18, 2020. The Minister of Health, Wellness and New Investments in Health of the Commonwealth of Dominica, the Honorable Dr. Irving McIntyre, received at the Ministry headquarters the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in this sister nation of the caribbean, Ulises Arranz. Fernández. During the meeting, the Minister thanked Cuba for its collaboration in the battle against COVID 19, with the presence of a brigade of 34 collaborators from the Henry Reeve contingent, specialized in the treatment of epidemiological and natural disasters.

Since arriving on March 29, 2020, the Henry Reeve Brigade has joined the work that come to Dominica’s health sector workers to confront the pandemic. The Minister asked that his gratitude and high appreciation for the work carried out by the collaborators be transferred to the cuban health authorities.

During the meeting, in which Letitia Lestrade-Wyke, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of health, also participated, other topics of interest in bilateral relations related to the field of health were discussed. An Addendum was signed that updates the Health Collaboration Agreement signed between the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba and the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Investment in Health of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

The Henry Reeve Brigade continued the work carried out by the brigade of 54 permanent health collaborators that exists in Dominica, who faced the pandemic when it began and continue to provide their health services to the population.

The meeting served to verify the excellent state of relations between the Republic of Cuba and the Commonwealth of Dominica, specifically in the field of collaboration in health.
