More than 50 thousand women carried out science and technology activities in Cuba during the past year 2023, the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI) reported today.
The group appears in the occupational category of managers, technicians, administrative, operators and service workers, and with 50,633 represents the largest number in the last three years, ONEI said in the most recent edition of its yearbook, Granma newspaper reported.
The figure shows an exponential growth since 2020, when there were 49,958 female science and technology workers, followed by 2021 (42,623) and 2022 (48,088).
The number of workers in this sector rose to 91,130 in 2023; most of them (54,503) with a higher education level; in addition to categorized researchers, especially professors, technologists and technicians.
