More than 6 million Cubans signed for the Homeland

The announcement of the closing of the process was made at the main May Day event in Cuba, in the presence of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic.

President Díaz-Canel received the book with the 6,230,973 signatures of workers, farmers, students, intellectuals, artists, athletes, all Cubans, against the genocidal blockade and the blatant imperial threats.

The initiative, called “My Signature for the Homeland,” constituted an exercise of popular sovereignty in the face of the escalating aggression against the nation, promoted by civil society organizations in response to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade, and the hybrid war against Cuba. By signing the document, Cuban citizens exercised their right and fulfilled their constitutional duty to defend the nation, reaffirming the sacred national unity.

The process coincided with the centennial of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, and demonstrated the Cuban people's commitment to peace.
