MP Alexandra Attalides receives Cuban Ambassador at the Parliament

Nicosia, March 21, 20223 - The Member of the Parliament of Cyprus, Mrs. Alexandra Attalides received at the headquarters of said institution the Ambassador of Cuba, Angel Gustavo Suárez Cordero on a courtesy visit.

During the friendly meeting, both highlighted the coincidences in the environmental challenges of their respective countries. At the same time, they exchanged on the problems the world is facing today and how the environment is the main axis.

Furthermore, they exalted the need of more women in institutions and their invaluable offer as part of the equal rights of both men and women.

The Cuban Ambassador besides informing the MP on the next parliamentary elections in Cuba, he presented the Cuban State's plan for the preservation of the environment known as "Task Life" and they exchanged on the strategic areas and tasks included in the document. Likewise, the Cuban diplomat commented on the effects of the blockade in this sensitive area for the development of the country.

On her part, Mrs. Attalides discussed the importance of the help of the European Union in achieving the implementation of beneficial decisions for the environment and agriculture in Cyprus.

Both showed interest in continuing to cooperate in order to further exchange experiences on these core issues and on which both countries are facing common challenges (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
