New Ambassador of Cuba presents Credential Letters to the President of Mongolia on December 10th, 2021

Ulan Bator. The new Cuban Ambassador to Mongolia, Mr. Jorge Ferrer Rodríguez, presented on December 10 the president, H.E. Mr. U. Khurelsukh, the Credential Letters that accredit him as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to that Asian country.

The audience, held in the Presidential Palace, which took place in a climate of friendship, mutual respect and collaboration that characterizes bilateral relations, was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mrs. Battsetseg Batmunkh, H.E. Mr. Odbayar Erdenetsogt, Foreign Policy Advisor to the President and Hon. Mr. Anand Amgalan, Director General of the Department of the Americas, the Middle East and Africa of the local Chancellery.

The President expressed satisfaction with the successful development of traditionally friendly relations between the 2 countries, despite the geographical distance, and offered to cooperate with the Cuban side in introducing science, health and biotechnology technologies in Mongolia and in the training of the local specialists. The Head of State recalled the exchange of visits by the leaders of both nations and the multilateral coordination. Likewise, he recognized the professional quality of the Mongolian doctors and dentists graduated from Cuban universities, among the more than 140 who have enjoyed scholarships since 1963.

The Cuban Ambassador expressed that it is a great honor and a pleasure to have been appointed as the representative of Cuba to this country and conveyed greetings from the Cuban President, Miguel Díaz Canel-Bermudez and his best wishes for health, success and prosperity to the Head of State and to the people of that country. He also thanked Mongolia's traditional stance in support of Cuba against the United States blockade at the UN and other forums and expressed his commitment to work to expand relations and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.

He pointed out that after the Congresses of the PCC and the Mongolian People's Party, which met this week, both countries shares several challenges and common goals, among others, reducing dependence on imports, increasing exports and their added value, increasing agricultural production, developing renewable energies,  and improve the quality of life and prosperity of their peoples.

Both interlocutors agreed in expressing that their respective countries feel honored by the fact that Cuba was the first country in the Americas to establish diplomatic relations with Mongolia in 1960 and that the Island is the only nation in Latin America and the Caribbean that has an Embassy in this capital since 1962, while Havana hosts the only permanent diplomatic representation of that country in our region.
