New Cuban Ambassador to Australia presents Copies of Credentials to the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Canberra, 3 December 2025. The ambassador Gilma Moreira Lino presented Jonathan Muir, Chief of Protocol at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the copies of her credentials, which will accredit her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Commonwealth of Australia.

During the meeting, held at the DFAT headquarters in Canberra, the ambassador conveyed to the Chief of Protocol the cordial greetings of the Cuban government, as well as Cuba's willingness to continue strengthening bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation with Australia.

For his part, the Australian Chief of Protocol welcomed her and conveyed the Australian Government's best wishes for the success of her diplomatic mission.

The presentation of the Copies of Credentials is the protocol step prior to the official presentation of the Letters of Credence to the Governor-General of Australia, Her Excellency the Honorable Sam Mostyn AC, a ceremony to be held in the coming days.
