New Cuban ambassador to Seychelles accredited

Victoria, 28 september. 

Cuban Ambassador Martha Hernández Caneiro presented today to the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan, her Letters of Credence as head of the diplomatic mission of the Caribbean nation.

After the official ceremony held at the State House, both parties exchanged in a cordial atmosphere about the good state of bilateral relations and the will to continue promoting the historic ties between the two countries.

On the occasion, the Ambassador reiterated Cuba's gratitude for the traditional support of Seychelles to the largest of the Antilles in the vote of the Cuban resolution against the blockade in the United Nations General Assembly.

They also discussed issues related to Cuban medical collaboration in this nation and the perspectives that could be explored in other fields such as sports, the environment, and agriculture.

In addition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde, and other officials of the Foreign Ministry participated.

Subsequently, the Cuban diplomat was received by the vice president of Syechelles, Ahmed Afif, with whom she exchanged on issues of common interest to both parties.

In Cuba, more than 200 Seychelles students have been trained in different areas. At present, a Medical Brigade composed of 73 doctors and health technicians from various specialties is here, which deserved the praise of the president.

Cuba and the Seychelles have had diplomatic relations since 1978. Historically, relations have developed in a framework of brotherhood, respect and cooperation.
