New group of health collaborators welcomed in Dominica

Roseau, Dominica - June 22, 2024

The Minister of Health, Welfare and Social Services of Dominica, Cassani Laville, accompanied by the Ambassador of Cuba, Miguel Fraga, received at the Douglas-Charles International Airport a new group of Cuban health collaborators who will join the Cuban Medical Brigade that provides services in the island's health system. 

In a brief welcome ceremony held at the airport, Minister Laville expressed his gratitude to the new collaborators for their willingness to support Dominica. For his part, Ambassador Miguel Fraga underscored Cuba's commitment to solidarity and international cooperation in the field of health, and highlighted the dedication and altruistic spirit of the Cuban professionals.

The group of Cuban collaborators, composed of doctors, nurses and technicians of various specialties, will be distributed in the different health centers of the island. 

The cooperation between Dominica and Cuba is historical. In the Cuban universities of Medical Sciences, 129 health professionals from Dominica have graduated and 45 inhabitants of this Caribbean nation are currently studying. This act of welcome not only celebrates the arrival of these valuable professionals, but also reaffirms the common history and the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between both nations.
