New Motswana doctors graduates in Cuba

The negative impact of Covid pandemic does not make less exciting the graduation 2020 at the Latin America School of Medicine (ELAM), in Havana.

Among the new proud doctors that finished theirs studies you can find Seabe Thupa,

Masa Martha Mogaetsho and Ambrocia Balekang Tshwaro Matabogo.

Seven years ago the scholarship to study Medicine in Cuba was a dream for them and families.

Today is reality and soon they will return to their communities in Botswana to support the local health system.

Much more than the Spanish language, they bring the knowledge and skills learned at the internationally known Cuban school of medicine, which includes the call “Army of white gowns”.

When created in 1999, ELAM welcomed students mainly from Latin American countries. At present they come from more than 80 nations across the world.

Up to now the number of graduates there is higher than 30 thousand. From Botswana, these three young doctors total six the graduates since 2018, as a result of the cooperation Cuba offers to the world, despide being a poor country, resisting a criminal blockade from the US.
