From the NNOC: "If Biden listened to the people of the United States, he would lift the blockade of Cuba"

If President Joe Biden spoke on behalf of the people of the United States, he would lift the blockade of Cuba today and eliminate the island's designation as a state sponsor of terrorism, said activist Cheryl Labash.

This is required by more than a hundred resolutions approved throughout the country that represent some 55 million people, LaBash said in statements to Prensa Latina in Boston, capital of the state of Massachusetts, where it will be held from this Friday until Sunday. the annual meeting of the National Network of Solidarity with Cuba (NNOC).

In general, the world is denouncing this ruthless unilateral siege, the NNOC co-president stressed, commenting that the conference will occur just at that critical moment when support for Cuba in the G77 and China increases until the UN General Assembly.

Furthermore, when respect for the island grows, there is “the overwhelming vote in favor of Cuba being part of the Human Rights Council.”

LaBash recalled that “next month will be the 31st consecutive vote in which the United States will be asked to end the blockade and stop the lie of calling Cuba a country that sponsors terrorism, which intensifies the intentional pain inflicted on its people.”

Americans reject Biden's hunger policy, she emphasized.

“We are developing a strategy this weekend to strengthen the movement within the Belly of the Beast to make irresistible our demand to remove Cuba from the list of countries that according to Washington sponsor terrorism #OFFtheList and #unblockCuba (unblock),” he said. .

Representatives of some 57 organizations that make up the NNOC came to Boston for the conference “and we have another 10 new groups that are applying to join,” LaBash concluded.

The event, based at the University of Massachusetts, will have a Pan-African Forum, organized by the Department of African Studies, which will focus on Cuba, Haiti and the Caribbean.

The program includes the annual balance, the elections of the new board of directors and admissions, work projections for 2024 and the call for the international court against the blockade in Brussels, Belgium scheduled for the month of November.

A documentary by the American media outlet Belly of the Beast will also be screened on the Joe Biden administration's policy towards Cuba and what is behind the interests that lead to that position.

The material, filmed in Washington DC and New Jersey, has two episodes, which follow up on the first docuseries of 2020-2021, The War Against Cuba, winner two years ago of the award in the Popular Reports category awarded by the organization. One World Media based in London.
