Pretoria, 29 May 2026. — The Cuban Ambassador, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, and the Minister-Counsellor, Jesús Perz, gave interviews to Radio 786 in Cape Town and Pan African TV, respectively, in which they discussed the current situation in Cuba.

In the interview with Radio 786, the main Muslim-speaking community radio station in Cape Town, the Ambassador highlighted that Washington’s policy of hostility has intensified significantly in recent months. The occasion provided an opportunity to condemn the unfounded accusations against Army General Raúl Castro.

For his part, the Minister-Counsellor, in his interview with the leading pan-African television network based in Accra, Ghana, emphasized that the blockade is not merely an economic policy, but a political weapon designed to stifle the Cuban economy and cause basic shortages among the Cuban people.

Both diplomats agreed in highlighting the firm solidarity of South Africa and the African continent with the people of Cuba.
