Invited to attend the May Day activities in Cuba, Panamanian trade union leader Cristobal Souza affirmed today that they are taking a message of solidarity condemning the US blockade.
In declarations to Prensa Latina, the secretary of inter-union relations of the National Confederation of Independent Trade Union Unity (Conusi) indicated that he will join other representatives of the working class of the isthmus to demand the cessation of the hostile policy which has proven to be a failure.
It is an honor to be in Havana on the occasion of International Labor Day, he said, when in the sister Caribbean nation converge representatives of the labor movement from all over the planet to raise their voices against the criminal blockade.
On this occasion, he reaffirmed, our message will be one of repudiation of those neoliberal policies and unilateral measures with which the U.S. empire is trying to suffocate the dignified Cuban people who resist, work and live.
Souza said that he also feels grateful to be able to represent Conusi in the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba and Anti-imperialism, 200 years after the Monroe Doctrine, which will take place as part of these activities.
The meeting will also become a worthy tribute to National Hero José Martí, on the 170th anniversary of his birth, the 64th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the legacy of its historic leader, Fidel Castro, paradigm of international solidarity, according to the forum's call.
In Cuba, these May Day celebrations are characterized by the decisive participation of workers in the country's economic and social strategy, the dignity and creative resistance of the people in the face of the obstacles posed by the economic, commercial and financial siege imposed by Washington more than six decades ago.
