As part of the International Day of Solidarity with Cuba, the Australian solidarity movement held a demonstration against the U.S. blockade outside the U.S. Embassy in Australia

Canberra, 20 April 2026. Members of the solidarity movement with Cuba in Australia gathered yesterday in front of the U.S. Embassy in Canberra to express their firm support for the Cuban people and condemn the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by Washington for more than six decades.

The action is part of the International Day of Solidarity with Cuba and took place on 19 April, a date of profound historical significance for the Cuban people: the first major defeat of U.S. imperialism in Latin America, a symbol of the Cuban people’s determination to defend their sovereignty and their Revolution.

Participants in the demonstration, gathered in front of the U.S. Embassy, raised Cuban flags and banners, and chanted slogans demanding an immediate end to the blockade. They denounced this unilateral policy as the main obstacle to Cuba’s economic and social development, noting that it affects the well-being of its population and violates the human rights of an entire people.

The demonstration in Australia joins the international actions that, year after year, demand the lifting of the economic blockade against Cuba and respect for its right to choose its own path without interference.

The solidarity movement with Cuba in Australia strengthens the bonds of friendship between the peoples of both countries and reaffirms the commitment to continue denouncing any form of aggression against Cuba.
