Photograph of Fidel Castro alongside Kenneth Kaunda becomes the centerpiece for Zambia's Permanent Secretary of Tourism at the Cuban Pavilion.

Lusaka, October 3, 2026. An iconic photograph immortalizing one of the meetings between Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz and Zambia's first president, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, became the centerpiece of Cuban participation at the Diplomatic Fun Fair held this Saturday at the Lusaka Showgrounds. The historic image was appreciated by the event's Guest of Honor, the Permanent Secretary of Tourism, Mr. Evans Muhanga, during his official tour alongside the Cuban Ambassador, Marileydis Dueñas Morales.

This snapshot was part of a wide and moving photographic exhibition deployed by the diplomatic mission staff within the framework of global celebrations marking the centenary of the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution. Alongside the visual display, printed books documenting Fidel's close ties with other global leaders were showcased, reinforcing historical memory and the deep brotherhood uniting both nations.

During this fruitful day, which took place under the theme "Zambia Moves You: Connecting Cultures, Inspiring the Future" alongside more than 30 embassies, the Caribbean delegation also promoted awareness of the island's reality, the bilateral exchange opportunities in health, education, sports, cultural tourism, and culinary traditions.
