Ekurhuleni, November 07, 2024 - The Central Executive Committee of the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) agreed to include in its final resolution the firm support to Cuba against the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade maintained by the United States against the island.
During the event, the commitment of the trade union and its affiliate members to increase solidarity with the Caribbean island, especially against its permanence on the unilateral list of countries that sponsor terrorism, was made crystal clear.
At the invitation of the highest leadership of this union, the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Cuban Embassy in South Africa, Bryan Betancourt Brito, attended the event, during which he had the opportunity to interact with several of the country's trade union leaders, including the General Secretary of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), Solly Pethoe.
In his address to the participants, the diplomat highlighted Cuba´s appreciation to POPCRU for its historic expressions of solidarity towards the Cuban people and confirmed the willingness to continue working for the strengthening of relations between the two countries.
