President of Cuba received the King of Lesotho

The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received His Majesty Letsie III, King of Lesotho, who makes an official visit to Cuba on Monday.

In a cordial environment, both parties exchanged on the good state of bilateral relations and reiterated the will to continue developing and expanding political dialogue and cooperation in the areas of Health, Education and Sports.

The Cuban president thanked the support of the Kingdom of Lesotho in the fight for the lifting of the US blockade against the Island and ratified the willingness to continue strengthening the historic ties of friendship between the two nations. The occasion was also conducive to talk about other topics on the international agenda.

They accompanied the distinguished visitor, the honorable senator Mr. Peete R. Peete; the honorable Mr. Lesego Makgothi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations; the director for Europe and the Americas of the Chancellery, Mrs. Itumeleng Rafutho; among other members of the delegation that accompanies him.

On the Cuban side, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla was present; the interim minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Ana Teresita González Fraga; the general director of Bilateral Affairs of the Minrex, Emilio Lozada García; among other officials of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

Previously, the visitor paid tribute to the National Hero of Cuba José Martí, with the placement of a floral offering at the monument located in the “Plaza de la Revolución”, in Havana.

During his stay he has carried out several activities and it is expected that on the morning of this Tuesday he will go to the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), where he will conclude the agenda of this official visit.

The Republic of Cuba and the Kingdom of Lesotho have maintained very positive bilateral relations, which will arrive in this 2020 to their 41st anniversary. Likewise, both nations ratify the willingness to continue strengthening their historic ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation, based on the mutual respect.
